Although wearing school uniform is not compulsory any more, it continues to be a subject of heated debate between teachers and schoolchildren. Most schoolchildren are against wearing a school uniform but their teachers disagree. To understand the problem, first of all, let"s have a look at the history of this question...Debates about school uniform have been going on for decades in different countries and districts, but during the 1990s state schools in the USA began to adopt uniforms. At first uniform rules were seen as a way of stopping children dressing in gang colours in troubled urban areas. Later, claims that introducing uniform leads to better discipline and educational results encouraged other school districts and schools to make a change. In my point of view, this topic looks at a very large number of arguments about uniforms.

On the one hand, as far as I am concerned, there is no doubt that school uniform has a lot of advantages. Firstly, it is believed that pupils who wear school uniforms perform better academically in school. It is true because children are often so focused on their wardrobe that it distracts them from learning. In addition, I believe that teenagers who wear school uniforms behave more appropriately in the school environment. For instance, lots of pupils are often teased because they do not wear expensive designer clothes to school. Consequently, it seems to me that it goes without saying, that those students whose parents cannot afford stylish clothes will feel more comfortable.

On the other hand, there are some negative aspects to wearing a school uniform. Due to the article 19 of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression". According to this, some people think that wearing the same clothes all the time stifles their self-expression and remove their individuality. As for me, schools can foster creativity and individuality without getting rid of school uniform. There are many schools with a uniform which still support creativity and individuality with "Child Initiated Independent Learning", and other schemes which encourage children to think for themselves. Moreover, if a school has a uniform, parents are expected to buy it, and then buy a new one every time their child outgrows the last. So some people say, this can be expensive. However, parents would probably have to spend a lot more money if their children didn"t wear a uniform to school, because they would have to buy them more casual clothes. Since children don"t like to wear the same thing too often (in case they get bullied), parents would have to spend a lot of money making sure their children have lots of different outfits. As a result, you can make a decision which one is more expensive: to buy one uniform or much more different outfits?

To conclude, when both sides of the argument are looked at, I would argue that the best solution would be to design a cheap comfortable uniform that allows children to wear individual items so as to express their individuality. Personaly, I do not mind wearing a uniform because it gives me a sense of belonging and makes me feel a bit different from students of other schools. And if you want to express yourself, remember, that people don"t judge a book by it"s cover. Personality is not what you wear, but the way you act, and what you do. And maybe rather than having school uniform, why not have a dress code instead? This has all the benefits of uniform without the many disadvantages. While uniforms force all to wear the same clothes, dress codes give students a lot of choice what to wear.

Personally, I tend to people who are for the introduction of school uniforms. First with the introduction of school
uniforms, all students will be equal. There will be neither rich nor poor. Secondly, I believe that school uniform sets for
training. Moreover there will be more order, the children will think about studying. In addition, parents will be easier to
live, will not have to constantly think of what to wear children, it facilitates parental costs. In addition, each school
can come up with its original shape. Among the students can hold a competition for the best idea of school uniforms. The
best ideas to reward various gifts to the children was a small incentive. As a result, will be interesting and useful.

However, there are people whose opinion is negative. Moreover, they believe that school uniform is not completely
necessary.
In contrast, they argue that the form may be too expensive for many children and poor families. In addition form deprives
students the opportunity to express their individuality in clothing. Every child has the right to express their
individuality, as he likes. Form Limits freedom of expression.On the other hand I am sure that the strictness of form
suggests that we first came to learn.

Лично я склонна к людям, которые за введение школьной формы. Во-первых с введением школьной формы все ученики будут равны между собой. Не будет ни богатых Ни бедных. Однако существуют люди чьё мнение отрицательно. Более того они уверены что школьная форма совершенно не нужна. В противоположность они утверждают что форма может оказаться слишком дорогой для многодетных и бедных семей. В добавок форма лишает учеников возможности выражать свою индивидуальность в одежде. Каждый ребёнок имеет право выражать свою индивидуальность,так как ему угодно. Форма ограничевает свободу самовыражения. С другой стороны я уверена что строгость формы говорит о том что мы прежде всего пришли учиться.

That’s right, the theme will be “the school uniform”, but school uniform has been a topic for hot discussing for many years and our lesson is not enough for that, what aspects should we discuss firstly? Remember the beginning of our school year, the 2 nd of September. Our headmaster, your tutor and other teachers were meeting you on the ground floor and checking your appearance.

2). In what countries is uniform worn nowadays?

(1834 - Russian school form was invented in 1834. The Russian parliament made special law about the form. But this law was only about boys.

1986 - the law started to include form for girls. In Russian school form could be of different kinds. girls began to wear blue skirts and blouses and boys began to wear blue suits.

During the 20 th century the school uniform changed several times (in 1948, in 1977), but in 1992 it was cancelled.

Teachers say that free style makes it difficult for children to concentrate on their classes.

Further more, there is no such a question what to put on in the morning.

Now, let`s pay our attention to negative aspects.

School uniform prevents children to be individuality. All are a like. One more, every day one and the same clothes.

By the end of the school year it becomes untidy and not pleasant to look at.

A school uniform in Russia A school uniform came to Russia from England in 1834. The first uniforms were made for boys. Boys had special shirts, trousers, black boots and a cap. Girls wore brown dresses and aprons.

A school uniform in Russia In 1896 this law started to include form for girls.

School uniform in the USSR In Soviet schools uniform was common and compulsory for all pupils.

In Great Britain Most British primary and secondary schools require pupils to wear uniforms. Boys wear a white shirt, long grey or black trousers ,jumper or sweater with the school logo on, school tie, black shoes . Girls wear trousers or skirts as part of their uniform - typically black, grey, navy, or sometimes brown or maroon.

In the USA Few state schools in the United States have formal school uniforms, but most have dress codes.

School uniform is an integral part of school life in many countries. Most schools in Russia also require school uniforms. However, some school accept freestyle outfit. There are different opinions on how the standard school forms should look like. Some schools have dark blue uniforms, while others use dark red or dark green colours. Some schools in Russia accept white shirts and black skirts for girls and black trousers for boys. Nevertheless, all these school uniforms have something in common. They all look rather smart and strict. Children’s opinions on school uniform differ. Some say they like wearing it, while others prefer to wear a pair of jeans and a T-shirt. In my opinion, the school uniform has both advantages and disadvantages. First of all when children wear a school uniform, they realize that they are at school not at a swimming-pool or stadium. It adjusts them to school atmosphere and helps to study harder. Secondly, school uniforms prevent social inequality. It means that both rich and poor children wear the same clothes. Furthermore, children don’t have such problem as what to wear in the morning. The disadvantages of school uniform include the loss of individuality. Everyone becomes alike and children look similar. The second problem may be untidiness. As children wear the same clothes every day their uniform starts to look a bit untidy and faded. Last but not the least school uniforms have become rather expensive lately. So, not every parent wants to buy it. As for me, I support the idea of wearing a school uniform. I think that at home we can put on what we want, but at school we need to follow the rules.

Второй проблемой может быть неряшливости. Так как дети носят одну и ту же одежду каждый день, их форма начинает выглядеть немного неопрятно и тускло. Последнее, но немаловажное, школьные формы стали довольно дорогими в последнее время. Поэтому, не каждый родитель хочет покупать её. Что касается меня, я поддерживаю идею ношения школьной формы. Я думаю, что у себя дома мы можем надевать все, что захотим, но в школе мы должны следовать правилам.

Many students all over the world wear a school uniform. But is it really necessary? Some people say that wearing school uniform is good, but others do not support this point of view.

As for me, I do not like wearing a school uniform. Firstly, the uniform is bad because of its monotony. It looks as if you were in the army, where everybody is similar to each other. Secondly, the colors of the modern school uniform are black and white. It is funeral. I feel uncomfortable in it because when I am in it I feel that somebody has died and I am at a funeral ceremony. It is awful. Thirdly, I support a free style. Everyone can express himself. You can wear comfortable, your favourite clothes. My favourite colors are bright yellow, green, and blue. I like to wear a blue or yellow T-shirt.

But there is another point of view. Some people say that students should wear a school uniform, and it disciplines. They think that wearing a school uniform helps students not to annoy each other. Without special uniform students, especially girls, will try to wear the best, the lightest, and the strangest clothes which are not common or not allowed at school. And, of course, students can better concentrate on work if they wear uniform.

I do not agree with these people. I think that without school uniform student’s life will be a little bit brighter. Nowadays studying takes a lot of time, and people become angrier and rougher. So wearing bright clothes helps to make our life more alive.

In conclusion, I would like to stress that I am for a free style. Clothes express our feelings and behavior. Tastes differ. And everyone can have his own opinion.

Многие студенты во всем мире носят школьную форму. Но действительно ли это необходимо? Некоторые люди говорят, что ношение школьной формы это хорошо, но другие не поддерживают эту точку зрения.

Что касается меня, я не люблю носить школьную форму. Во-первых, форма плоха из-за своей монотонности. Это выглядит как если бы вы были в армии, где каждый похож друг на друга. Во-вторых, цвета современной школьной формы черный и белый. Это траурно. Я чувствую себя некомфортно в ней, потому что, когда я в ней, я чувствую, что кто-то умер, и я на церемонии похорон. И, конечно же, студенты могут лучше сконцентрироваться на работе, если они носят униформу.

Я не согласен с этими людьми. Я думаю, что без школьной формы жизнь студента будет немного ярче. В настоящее время учеба занимает много времени, и люди становятся злее и грубее. Так носить яркую одежду помогает сделать нашу жизнь живее.

В заключение мне хотелось бы подчеркнуть, что я за свободный стиль. Одежда выражает наши чувства и настроение. О вкусах не спорят. И каждый может иметь свое собственное мнение.
